Gearbox top up oddity

Hello again guys. So its a little odd but ive been topping up the gearbox oil on the ts125 on the left hand side. This is a big bolt close to the carb which I belive is a blanking bolt for the tacho drive.

When i tried to top up gearbox oil from right hand side which has a bung it just poured out the points side everywhere.  The odd thing is topping it up on the right hand side works. The oil stays there and all I get is a little drip from the smaller drain plug. The engine is an odd one I think.  The bike was made in 82 but not registered until 84 in the UK. There is no tacho drive in the engine  as I discovered after buying a tacho and cable !

The manual says to top up on the left for early models. I think the engine is an older ts125 so a cros

TS125 Indicator question

Hi all

Well my daughter is loving the TS125 . So far so good and she’s got the knack of kicking it over etc. The one thing she is struggling with is the slow flash of the indicators.

It hasn’t failed an MOT but that has more to do with the guy looking amused when it comes in and not really knowing what to do !

So do they just flash slow and if so is there a relay upgrade which is 6 volt.

Cheers !

Balls

Greetings pussycats. I’m in the middle of rebuilding an injin from out of my shed and have come unstuck for the want of a detent  ball and spring for an etz250. I have rooted through my piles of crap but can’t find any. Has anyone got one they would care to part with?

Trouble posting on website

I have tried to post in two forums on two pieces of equipment (an iPad 2 & old Android tablet) but cannot activate my keyboard in the text box !
Is there an issue with the site or are my devices incompatible with the site software ?
What I really need is some technical information, specifically the distance between the front and rear holes for the spindle on the front swinging arm of the ES 250/2 sidecar model.
I used to own one of the original 99 imported by Wilf Green.
Sadly I no longer have that wonderful machine & never thought to take measurements whilst I owned it.
Is there any way to get the measurements I need ?
I was going to post the question in the tech forum hoping that someone out there may have an original sidecar type front swinging arm and could give me an accurate “between centres”distance for the holes.
If I can get the measurement I can convert the “solo” front swinging arm for sidecar use.
By moving the wheel forward the steering becomes more controllable with less tendency to “head shake” and reduces the need for a steering damper ,(always assuming that the outfit is set up correctly with appropriate ‘toe in’ & ‘lean out’)
When I have successfully completed the modification I would be happy to pass on all the relevant information to any interested members.
I hope you can help .
Thanks & regards
Steve

PS Some time ago I sold my MZ sidecar (for a very reasonable sum )to a club member through this website

MZ ts125 Forks oil change

Hi guys

The one last thing to do on my daughter’s MZ is fork oil. Now correct me if i am being stupid, but can I undo the bolt in the bottom of each leg which holds the damper rod in place. This would then allow me to pull the lower leg off to clean.

Then put the leg on push under pressure and do up the bolt. May sound odd but thays how ive been doing my 2001 Triumph bonneville fork oil replacement for years.

I dont mind looking silly so please enlighten me. Loving the  MZ by the way.

removal of swinging-arm bolt ES

Can anyone tell me how to remove the main swinging arm bolt on an ES? I have removed nuts from both ends and remove the two smaller tensioning bolts but it won’t budge.? Is it meant to drift out or is more persuasion needed? My bike is a ES 175/1 but I’m assuming it would be the same for all bikes with Earls suspension?
