Graham Kent has passed away

News from member Brian Tarrant

I have just learnt that long time MZ agent and enthusiast Graham Kent of Dave Kent Motorcycles in Church Crookham, Hants passed away suddenly a few days ago. Graham was a true enthusiast and always helpful. Grahams wife Rosemary would like riders to attend the funeral on the 25th November. Can anyone interested in attending please call me, Brian Tarrant, on 01252 658955 for further details. We will be meeting at Church Crookham.

ETZ 125/150 Wilf Green Special?

We are all familiar with the ETZ 300 Wilf Green special with its finned cylinder head cover, but poking about at my local bike breaker I came across a 125/150 head cover. It is pictured here next to a 300 version and sat on an ETZ 125 cylinder head.

The only reference I can find anywhere is a mention in the introduction of the Haynes manual that says Wilf Green produced an ETZ 125 XR and ETZ 250 XR model during 1988, both fitted with “a heat dissipater on top of the cylinder head.”. It further states that these two models were also fitted with handlebar fairings and colour coded front mudguards.

Can anyone shed any more light on these models, and does anyone have any pics?

Cheers

OKTOBERFEST

Many thanks Eric for another great rally and camping weekend at the Woodbridge Inn. Superb venue. A great time was had by all (except for the 170 mile ride back to Kent in the non-stop rain!! Perhaps you might be able to sort it for next year!). We are all looking forward to the ‘Henn’ next July.

Congratulations on your successful, titanic power struggle to retain the Section Rep position at the AGM on Saturday night!

Cheers
Del (on behalf of the roving Kent contingent: Me, ‘Kanuni’ Dave, Ed and Matt)

Phil Krix in the UK

As many of you will already know, Phil arrived in the UK on 9th September after his epic 14,000km ride from Oz to England on his ETZ 250. Unfortunately, my plan to welcome him at Dover went pear-shaped when his text failed to get through, but Phil found time to jump on a train and head down to Broadstairs on Sunday 22nd so that we could meet up for a natter. We also, of course, had time to drag all of the bikes out of the garage so that my wife could take a few photos. Here is Phil and me (no prizes for guessing who is who!) with, from left to right, Mitzi, Ezme, Olive and Maizie. Phil did mention that he may get round to penning a few words about his trip for a future issue of MZ Rider (no pressure from me, honest!!). An occasional ‘Australia Section Report’ would also be most welcome!!!

New Website

Congratulations Ian on a superb looking new website. It must have taken many hours of work to get this far, and I hope all runs smoothly as you finish migrating over all of the material from the old one.

Well done, and keep up the good work.
