Buy a vape electronic ignition. 12v great investment. I’ve had one on my ts250 for 18 years never a problem. Just think carefully where you mount the components.
As an example ,I mounted mine on the battery holder. Coil facing the front rectifier under the battery holderand relay switch next to it.5 holes to drill in the alloy.

    Hi Sean,
The vape system is very stable. I would say it’s one of the best upgrades you can do. I have used them on all my mz bikes and will be fitting one to my dkw.
I ran one on a ts250/1 for 20 years as daily transport without a problem. I would suggest the battery option and keep it charged up if you don’t use the bike often. I fitted the coil to the front facing side of the battery holder and the regulator underneath the holder. Only four small holes and a neat install. Well worth the time. Just follow the instructions take your time.

Hi Simon, best thing you can do! I bought an mz-b system well over 10 years ago for my ts250/1. Never had a problem. Just keep the terminals clean and use a good battery.

Thanks for your help.i have since stripped the engine down and discovered the big end was at fault.large amount of play. I have a new crank installed and took care to check the end float for the primary drive.
My next challenge is to get the engine to start! I have a 12v vap system fitted which worked fine.i have a spark and the carb is cleaned maybe the timing is out?

I have looked at the primary drive and all seems ok.ireplaced the bearing in the clutch cover.still have the knocking rattle? When clutch is disengaged it is still there.could it be the small end bearing? The bike had a rebore 5000 miles ago. The noise has increased the past 200 . Any thoughts?

The piston should have a size marked on it. Usually on the crown. As for parts.zweirad-schubert.de or ost2rad.com God for mz parts to.ring sizes to match piston size I believe.good luck.
