When I had my Skorpion Traveller I always let the bike run the carb dry if I was leaving it for any length of time, or it could be a swine to start, not sure if this works if the fuel pump is still fitted.

Piston Head clearance for the 300 is the same as a 250.

In my experience with 3 Wilf Green 300s all had wide squish bands 1.75 to 3mm,
larger the clearance the lower down the rev range the engine pulled from, but less top end, 3mm 65mph.

I had them machined down to 1mm clearance and the engine had the same power characteristic’s as a 250 but with more GO!!

    Hi Steve.

2 thou is just over 0.0508 mm.
3 thou is close to maximum allowable wear from what I remember.

    Hi Steve.

I think you will find the clearance is 0.03mm.

I think you may be better fitting another, plenty on ebay.

I know when I had a ETZ250 it took 3 speedos before I got one to read ok, my first one read 65mph at 80mph.

I think if the conrod has a needle roller little end bearing you can use a 50:1 mix, earlier model’s had a plain little end bush and needed a 33:1 mix.

    Using a 33:1 mix won’t harm in a 50:1 motor.

    Hi Anthony.

Grahams are the only MZ Skorpion, MZ1000, RT125. four stroke part supplier’s outside Germany.

But the Skorpion has only two parts that I can think of that are only available from MZ, the Air Filter, & Rubber Swing Arm Chain Guard, most plastics I would think are now unobtainable new.

The rest of the bike is made from Yamaha (engine, swing arm,) and Italian parts, (Forks, Brakes, Wheels), so parts can be obtained anywhere, ebay.

    A Useful forum.

My experience with ETZ300s is my own converted 250 was not bad, but my son had 2 that were shocking at around 3000rpm we never got them right.

It seemed to me to be the transition from pilot to main jet as before and after 3000rpm all was well.

The earlier BVF carb with the screwed on float chamber is easier to set up than the later spring clip type.

Yes Andy, everything set as per The Book, only difference was the large squish.

Having had 3 Wilf Green 300 etz’s, the one’s that pulled like steam engines but no top end had wide squish bands 2mm+, once set to standard 1mm they ran like the 250 but with more power.

Next time you have the head off try fitting extra head gasket’s to lower the compression, you never know it may work on the 250 also.
