Yorkshire section meeting

Oi oi chums

This plague thing has hit again, after 15 years meeting in the Marsh in Cleck the new regime for  entry/ meeting has forced us to find a new venue. Whether this is a temporary move or not is for the future to tell us.

We held the section AGM at Ponden Mill cafe Stanbury on Sunday and it was decided that for the foreseeable the section meetings will be held here. Same pack drill just a different location.

Second Sunday of the Month from 12.30

Any peripatetic meetings in warmer weather will be notified to the masses.

Krampustreff 4/5/6 December

Oi oi chaps who’s up for some winter camping?

The much anticipated Yorkshire section Krampustreff is now open for booking. Sadly booking is necessary due to traceability, limited camping and catering facilities.

The camp will be in North Lincolnshire

Due to the lack of facilities in the area ( the pub closed in 1889) the camp will be self contained.

the camp costs £30 and includes

2 nights camping

gluwein/jäger tea on arrival and welcome pack

2x evening meals

2x breakfast

snacks/biecuits

unlimited tea/coffee

local beer on honesty bar but feel free to bring your own.

The site has a communal cabin with a stove and there will be additional gazebos on site for shelter.

There is a lot of nothing in the area but the winding roads are excellent

please contact me to book a place, details will be given after booking.

be there or be elsewhere

Yorkshire section meeting 13 September

Greetings chums.

the Yorkshire section meeting for September will be held at Ponden Mill cafe, Stanbury near Haworth.

from 12.30

the cafe is opening specially for us, sadly there will be no hot food available but scones have been promised to soak up the copious amounts of tea and coffee.

There will be a run out to the meeting starting at 10 am from the Brown Cow in Bingley. The route is dependant on who arrives but will be small roads and possibly some easy off road sections.

If you like travelling faster than an Es150 please plan your own route and meet us at the cafe.

Ts tank dilemma

Hi, I bought a ts tank last week which was delivered on approval. The tank is fine but there were no contact details on the packaging to make payment and I can’t find the post now.

I’m feeling guilty, can the seller please contact me.

Sorry, to compound things I have forgotten your name as well.

Covid MOT Extension

Just a quick note to those which have bikes with MOTs expiring soon, or have expired recently. MOT’s are no longer being extended by 6 months. It only ran for MOTs expiring between 30th March and 31st July

I only just realised this today, as my car runs out on Friday . Just thought I’d post here, to make sure no one makes the same mistake!

Stripped exhaust thread

Greetings all, the thread for the exhaust collet  is damaged on my etz250. It tightens in and seems fine but works loose when the bike is ridden. I have drilled the head and fastened it in with lock wires but this hasn’t worked. It seems that the thread is jumping and coming loose leaving the lock wires intact. Anyone done a successful bodge? Don’t want to strip the engine if I can do a temporary repair. It’s a pain to get out, I have to take the sidecar off.

Yorkshire section August meeting

Greetings kittens,

after the spectacliar success of our last section meeting at Howstean gorge I have arranged The August meeting. We will be assembled at Ponden mill cafe. Stanbury near Haworth. We had a camp here last year and all who attended were told they had enjoyed it. Future camps are plague dependant .

the cafe is opening specially for us from 12.30 on the 9th August. Sadly there will be no sandwiches or hot food but Barbera has promised fresh scones, cream ,jam etc.

There will be a ride out again using the finest local wiggly byways. Starting from the Brown cow in Bingley and leaving at 10 am.

please fight any urges to come on sports bikes as there will be sections of easy green lanes. Plus you would get very bored travelling at minimum velocity.

The cafe is open and selling the usual stuff ( no fishy finger sandwiches though!) and the toilets are available for punters. Seating is in a marquee outside so distancing will be possible. Let’s give Stan a bit of income.

i will be doing a ride from the Brown Cow in Bingley BD162QX please be there for 10 am departure.
old men on little bikes please as the way will be windy 0E046A6F-6245-43F8-9DB9-62DD1B97D976 D8FDF536-2EDD-4CFD-A81D-AD1F2EEC8AB1and wiggly. We had some power rangers tip up last month( they are welcome to join us at the cafe) and I bored them with my route. I don’t think they got out of 3rd gear.

small amount of green lanes are part of the route, nothing desperate. I have just been round on my ES150 on road tyres.

plan to be at Howstean for 12.30/1

TS250/1. Low speed weave/ handlebar oscillating

Hi all,

just finished rebuilding my TS and got it MOT’d today.

I put around 50 miles on it after the test and noticed a slight weave/bar oscillation.  This occurred below 35mph and was relatively high frequency but limited movement of the handlebar.  Above 40, it disappeared.

Is this normal?

apologies if this is in the wrong category but I can’t work out how to post it in two stroke help!

ps, I’ll post photo of the finished bike – very happy with it.

cheers

1974 ES 250 Help wanted

I have received an message from a Jon Jackson of Lancaster who has just bought a 1974 ES 250. The engine has a rumble on the left hand side which more or less disappears when the clutch is pulled in. The seller said that it was the clutch bearing but Jon thinks it could be the main bearing. He is looking for someone, hopefully in the north of England who can rebuild the engine as he is hoping to do some European touring on it. Jon is not a club member at the moment but intends to join if he can sort out the engine. If anyone can help he can be contacted via me.               Thanks

Dave Gillespie

skorpion cdi help

Help, sick scorpion traveller, runs for 3 miles and dies, carbs etc all sorted – down to electrics, replaced coil, plug, lead cap, tried a preloved cdi and runs smooth but gets too hot – gold exhaust etc. I’ve been fed all sorts from www, they are year/model specific etc etc.

Does anyone have one for sale or that I could borrow, already run up a huge bill on parts alone, dread to think of how much I owe the mechanic – thanks

1962 ES 250/1 6v Regulator

Hello all,

I am a new member of the club, after purchasing a 1962 MZ ES250/1 requiring a little bit of fettling (ha ha!). I am going to try to get the engine running first of all, but on closer inspection the wiring is a bit of a mess but more importantly the regulator is missing, so there is a bit of work to be done to get it to the start up stage. To this end is there anyone out there with a good used regulator for sale? As I am new to all things MZ any advice/suggestions gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Kevin Stone.

TS250/1 Fork Oil spec

Hi there,

I’m continuing with sorting out a few niggles with my TS250, one of which is an overly soft front end (in my opinion).

Any advice on oil weight/spec/volume required to stiffen it up a bit?  With riding gear and luggage, probably looking at 100kg ……just me, no passenger.

also, anyone got a hybrid front brake cable (MZ lever to CB350 TLS brake)?

cheers

Gordon
