Howdo cats n kittens.
just a reminder for any masochists out there who are missing their fix of winter camping.
The Yorkshire section winter camp is go. We shall be gathered at Howstean gorge campsite Lofthouse, Pately Bridge HG35SF on the weekend starting 19 January.
For those who don’t know the site is nestled in little Switzerland Nidderdale Yorkshire. There are 2 pubs within walking distance. The top Crown high on a hill, the bottom Crown a leisurely level walk. Both do hearty food and good beer.
There is also a cafe on site and superb facilities
Not to mention some of the best riding roads in the U.K.!
Just tip up!

Tezet ignition timing TS125
Does anyone have instructions for ignition timing of Tezet unit on TS125 or is it preset by Manufacturer?
MOT exempt?
Hello all
Well my daughter is in Australia so it’s been a chance to finally put the high bars on the TS125. They look great and it handles better. I also did the painful task of fitting a new chain cover.
So Eva’s bike was registered in August 1984. When can I apply for it to be a historic vehicle. It’s MOT sadly runs out July 2024 so it may need one more ?

Howstean Gorge winter camp 19/20 Jan 24
Howstean Gorge Lofthouse, Pately Bridge, Harrogate HG35SF
For those who have not visited before, the site is behind the Howstean Gorge cafe/visitor center.
There is a reasonably new facility block with good showers. The site is in walking distance of 2 pubs, both called The Crown! The pubs are about a mile away, sadly one of the pubs ( the top Crown) is up a very steep hill. It’s well worth the effort though decending after a night spent imbibing has proved difficult in the past!
Both pubs do hearty food and there is also the cafe.
The area is fantastic for motorcycle riding, and can be spectacular in winter.
we have booked snow!
Be there or be huddled under a tartan blanket wearing slippers watching celebrity spank off on the tellybox!

Correct Fuses for TS150
I was wondering if I have the correct fuses in mine. I think but not sure they should be 16amp each. The positive is an 8 and the negative is a blue one, not marked, but guessing it’s a 10. I’m not blowing any fuse but am having some issues.

150 or 250?
Just joined, glad to be aboard. I’m in the States, so finding one here not so easy. Prices for the TS250 running around $5K and above. I’ve found a very sweet TS150, ’74 model with 39 miles showing and asking price is $2900, and am seriously considering it over a 250. I ride very small back roads, if I get on the highway it’s for very brief periods, maybe a mile or two so really don’t need the power. Reliability and durability are more important than performance. Is the 150 just as smooth as the 250? Is the engine rubber mounted like the 250? Many thanks for any help. Jay
Carburettor issues on MZ251 and ULEZ
Hi everyone,
First the good news – my 251 is Ulez compliant (£175 less in my pocket though)
The less good is that the substituted Japanese carburettor with which said Ulez compliance was obtained appeared good to start with but has become problematic – in fact it became very difficult to get a stable tick over and smoked more than MZs usually do!
My solution is going back to the drawing board and renovating the original BVF 30- N- 3-1 carb using a supposedly identically one I had tried earlier but which is inferior overall in metal quality and fit.
My question is about whether a) the pilot air screw absolutely needs an o- ring as neither the original, nor the ‘not so cheap’ “identical” substitute had one. Also there seems lots of different views about turns out for both the pilot and the bypass air screws – any thoughts on this are very welcome. The 251 has done about 32k since new in 1990.
Hopefully if all sorted and passes MOT I may see some of you at the ACE cafe for Red Oktober meet on 13th October.

TS250/1 crankshaft seals
Did I read somewhere that it’s possible to change Supa5 crank seals without removing the engine or splitting the crankcase?
if so, are there any special tools required to do this?
thanks!

Hello

Etz bench seat wanted
I need to replace the home made seat on my etz250. The seat is as comfortable as a plank with fish hooks attached. I have a big trip planned and would like to be able to walk when I get home.
does anybod have a seat I could buy?

Weird harmonics
Oi oi kittens, here is a a strange one.
I have just rebuilt a ts 150, it was a complete bike but basically scrap. Anyhoo everything is fine apart from at certain revs there is a strange thrumming rattle. I have been round with a stethescope and the noise seems to be the frame vibrating! Has anybod had a similar experience?.
I have had the frame welded where the foot pegs mount as the pegs had caught and ripped the mount free. Also the rear pegs were rotten so I cut them off and plated the hole. Solid repairs, I can’t see them making any difference.
I have now put a bolt through the frame using an existing hole just in front of the tank mounts.
this has reduced the noise but not stopped it. All injin mounts tight and clearance on header pipe ok.

New tyre time?
I’m looking for new tyres for my super 5 original size would be 2.75 x 18 front and 3.50 x 16 rear, not an easy combination to get a matched pair it appears.
Has anybody used Mitas H-06 which are available in the correct size?
Has anybody used the slightly larger 3.00 x 18 on the front and does it fit OK? If so I can get the Michelin City Pro pair?
other tyre option suggestions welcomed
Thanks, Andy

TLS Brake modification and standard MZ rim?
Morning all, has anyone had experience trying to fit a Honda TLS hub into a standard MZ 18 inch wheel rim? Can it work or not?
Obviously the straight pull spokes for the standard MZ hub leave the rim at a different angle to the spokes for the Honda hub but I would like to know if there is enough play in the rim holes to allow the Honda spoke pattern, or can the MZ rim be redrilled to allow it to work?
any pointers welcome before I cut out my existing MZ hub, I may need a new rim to make it work but hopefully not.
Thanks, Andy
Gear box oil disappearing- etz 250
Looking for some advice from the forum. I’ve been bothered by an increasing level of excess smoke from my etz 250 ( 1984 19k miles) but with no other running issues and no obvious cause. However upon checking the gear oil level yesterday I find most of it gone.It appears that I’ve been burning up the gear oil along with the 2t.Could this be anything other than Crankcase oil seal failure? My mechanical experience to date is confined to Top end and forks etc- is it a big Job? Can it be done with the motor in situ, do I need to split the engine? What about tools required?I’ve rooted around the web and got some conflicting info.Any help is really appreciated.Greta Thunberg would not approve the current situation! Thanks
