2024 annual Carrog camp, 27th – 30th June

Station Campsite, Carrog.

Snowdonia is a hop skip and jump away. The River Geek runs past the bottom of the field and the Llangollen Steam Railway, Carrog Station is adjacent to the field. The Grouse Inn, 10 minutes walk away, does real ale and decent food at reasonable prices with excellent service. The view from the pub over the valley and the river is amazing from the terrace. If you have never been, you don’t know what you are missing.

The Talking Tony Memorial Yeti Hunt Treff, 8th – 10th December

In May this year 2023 we lost our old friend, club stalwart and much loved character Tony Simmonds.

Tony and I came up with the idea of the Yeti hunt camp in 2012 whilst chatting in a field at a Squires rally in Scotland. A winter camp at some altitude and isolated location appealed to us both. Tony came up with the location and I added the name, The Yeti Hunt was born and one particularly suitable snowy weekend in January 2012, 17 of us turned up at the Tan Hill Inn the highest public house in England, and had a hoot.

Since that first successful camp Tony scoured the northern regions tirelessly every year in search of suitable locations, and came up with some belters. It seems fitting that this years Yeti Hunt shall be dedicated to the memory of Tony god rest his soul.

So this December 2023 we shall be holding the “Talking Tony memorial Yeti Hunt Treff” at Middleton Top camp site near Matlock on the 8th 9th 10th December.

The site is a short walk from local pubs and shops, not so isolated.
Location – Middleton, Derbyshire, England, DE4 4LS,
53.093417, -1.585338
