InactiveThis is my first post as a new member.
I recently bought a 1984 ETZ250 although it has a new MOT I belive the bike has been standing unused for some time. My problem is the warning lights – high beam, neutral and indicator warning are very dim when riding the bike. However when the engine is not running the lights are the correct brightness. I have cleaned up all the electrical connections I can find without any improvement. Something that may be relevant – the rear light (not brake light) comes on when the ignition is turned on.One final thing. Can you please tell me the spanner size for the rear axle? 17mm is too small and 19mm is too big.
I would be grateful for any guidance. Thanks

Derek ReynoldsParticipantThe relevance of the illuminated rear light suggests something is either incorrectly connected, or is bleeding current from one place to another. Without hands on using a multi meter to check Voltages and continuity, it’s hard to pin point the fault.
17 – 19 there is a number between those two . . . 😉

InactiveThank you for your reply. Looks like I need to ask my friend, who is good at bike electrics, to check out my wiring. I am OK at mechanical issues but electrics confuse me.
With all the bikes I have owned I have never come across 18mm nuts and bolts. I am begining to apreciate the idiosyncrasy of MZ and I think this is a big part of their attraction.

Derek ReynoldsParticipantDefinitely not a common size, at least my 18mm ring spanner seldom gets used. Citroen 2cv’s are quirky like that too, lots of m7 bolts with 11mm across the flats.
