      Hi everyone,
In process of maintenance of carburettor and oil pump supply to engine I wonder if anyone knows how to test the oil supply in the crankcase mid section where it sits in a pool and gets drawn in as the engine runs. Whilst I can see that the little metal spigot on the outer crankcase middle has a trace of oil in it I would like to measure whether it has been / is being fed into the pool inside the crankcase as per OM manual.
Also is there an optimum viscosity of oil that should be used or is any 2 stroke oil adequate for the system. Any experience of issues around this or how to test apart from running the engine which I cannot do at present?

Just use pre-mix in the tank and direct pump outlet to a measuring jug.

Thanks Matthew, I’ll give that a try once I’ve completed reassembly of some other components
