Thanks for the kind words. There is indeed a Technical section, which includes Hints and Tips sub-sections for 2 and 4 stroke machines. What would you like to see in the Reference section?

I certainly did ask Del to publicise the new forum, so hopefully there will be an upsurge in interest when the next magazine starts landing on the doormats.
In terms of your missing avatar, did you remember to hit the blue “Update Profile” button on the bottom of your profile page? It’s not an obvious thing to have to do, seeing that you already clicked “select” on the previous screen. Give that a try, and see if it helps.
Meanwhile, for everyone else, here’s a step-by-step guide to uploading a personalised avatar instead of the whirly pattern the system generates for you.

Six or seven attempts so far – including the Update Profile button – and it hasn’t worked for me. I even tried the step-by-step guide but that also failed.

OK, it looks like there are two things to check – firstly, have you deleted the image from the media library? When I went to check it, the system told me it could not find the actual image, which might explain why it is not showing.
Secondly, if you can still find it, or you do upload it again, I wonder if it’s the wrong format – I doubt WordPress can handle .bmp as an avatar image. Could you convert it to .jpg or .gif, and try with that?

Forum doesn’t appear to get much use………it needs to be free and open to use by all if you wish to generate traffic, interest, responses and content (the lifeblood of any good forum).
Restricting access to paying club members is a sure fire way of constraining interaction and limiting the forum’s effectiveness.

Hi,
as a newbie but a frequenter of other forums I cannot find “New Topic” anywheres.
Other Forums usually have it writte large in full view as it is of the utmost importance.
All I can do is reply to posts.
(Waits to be embarrassed)And those horrible migraine inducing, zaggy things. whoever came up with those.
They should be subjected to the misery of them a few times.Also, where are the “smileys”.

I hope Editor Derek mentions the new club forum in the next club magazine. I know it’s early days but it is getting very little use at the moment, strange when there are 800 members. The ukGSer forum get’s about 20 to 30 posts a DAY so word needs to get around.
Umm, I replaced by image a few days ago but it still hasn’t appeared. Any chance of looking into that, ta?
