Hi guys,
My project Supa 5 has an ETZ front disc set up fitted. The master cylinder is leaking at the plunger rod outer seal however. I have decided to rebuild with new seals however I am struggling to remove the rod and outer seal. Does anyone have any experience to share to help me overcome this problem?
Thanks
William.
Normally the oil seal can be eased out with a screwdriver or suchlike. sometimes the plunger can be extracted with a pair of long nose pliers. If not you can make a tool which clamps on the spindle and can them be gripped in vice of pair of molegrips to ease it out. I have added a picture showing the dimensions of such a tool or you can borrow mine if you still have need of one. Contact me by pm so we can sort out details.
Thanks for this Peter. I have though in fact just managed to remove it. I had a helper push the rod down as far it would go with a thin parallel drift which allowed me to insert a small screwdriver under the top lip of the seal. My helper then released the pressure which allowed the rod under spring pressure to fire out the horizontally placed screwdriver taking the seal with it. Voila!
Many thanks
William
