In the end i used clear distilled vinegar + nuts and bolts followed by water rinse, a wash through with bi-carb solution, dried with a hair drier and ran a bit of fuel/ engine oil mix into the tank and shook it about. Left the vinegar in for about a day, and boy did some rust and gunk come out! its still not perfect but its a huge improvement! 🙂
