I have acquired a TS250/1 which has been fitted with a 12v Boyer Bransden ignition set up. It has a good spark and starts up OK. The battery is fully charged and easily passes the ‘test’ of having the headlight on full beam for a minute without dimming (without the engine running, of course) – it will also operate the winkers normally, a good strong hooter and stop light at the same time. However, when the engine is running the ammeter shows a maximum charge and the charging light never goes out. On top of that, when I last fired it up the tickover was extremely fast – whereas previously it had been normal – and the engine would not turn off no matter where I positioned the switch. The carb. is a Mikuni which has been recently ultrasonically cleaned. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? Has anyone a BB wiring diagram so I can check if it’s been wired up correctly? Would anyone like to make me an offer for the wretched thing?! I’d appreciate any suggestions. many thanks.

Good of you to offer assistance, John, but I can’t find any MZ references on that list and the few numbers there are on the components on the bike do not appear anywhere on the list either. Ah well!
