Hi, i have just bought a 6v solid state regulator from mz parts bristol. It came without any instructions, so i queried whether i needed to remove the adjustable resistor from the dynamo. (A friend did this conversion on his bike after purchasing a regulator from a different source and was instructed to remove the resistor). I was told i did not need to remove it.
I fitted a voltmeter and noticed the charging is very erratic with wide variations of voltage at the battery. A friend who is electrically minded thinks i need to remove the resistor. Has anyone come across this problem? regards, John -
I bought a solid state reg from Ost2rad and the instructions advised removal of the variable resistor.
Can tell you if it works as haven’t got round to firing the bike up yet (cleaning carb and doing final bits and pieces).
