Message from Ian Burdon:
Hello Zedders,
The company that printed our magazine has stopped trading with no notice – we only found out after sending issue 262 off last week.
A new company has been found, but there will be a slight delay before the magazine is sent out.
Please do not complain about your copy not arriving, until the end of March.
If, when you receive your magazine, there is an extra address sheet with it (the machine that wraps the sheet with the magazine sometimes picks up two at once), please let me know, otherwise the second person will miss their copy.

Hi Richard,
Thanks for the MZRC info etc.
Now – I’ve had Jawa, CZ and Zundapp two strokes, all fettled by myself and dead easy starters (1st or 2nd kick cold or hot). Technique from cold was generally turn on fuel, depress ‘tickler’ and count to three – draught one kick – turn on ignition and one kick to start with throttle closed (in all cases). Gentle throttle while warming and closing choke. When engine warm just one kick with closed throttle.
However, I’ve never had , or ridden, an MZ, and this ‘new to me’ ES250 is not an easy starter when cold. I haven’t yet checked it out mechanically ‘cos I don’t collect it until Tuesday (Aug 2)
I’d be much obliged if you could answer the following queries – or please forward this email to someone who can.
I need to know one or two things re starting..
I attach a picture of the new acquisition for your amusement. I’ve always liked the quirky look of the ES and this one appears complete and comes with all the desirable accessories. I think the local cheapo luggage store would be a source of suitable panniers in which to put helmets & jackets etc on a day out – I have some QD fitting kits left over from the seventies which could be pop rivetted into ‘cabin cases’ of a suitable size and colour ??. I plan to use the bike regularly for commuting to the Rowing Club (5 miles) and afternoon/evening saunters around the backroads with brief stops at country pubs with my wife on the pillion (generous dualseat on even the smallest MZs was a major buying decision).
Best wishes

This is a latish ETZ125 (electronic ignition) engine. It has the alternator and the electric ignition module but no carb, gear lever of electrics cover. Everything else is present. Just reassembled with new main bearings and seals and gaskets. Rest appears ok. £60 or would prefer to swap for an equivalent TS150 motor.

Just heard via Truprint that Del Lea finally succumbed to his illness on Saturday 4th June with his family around him. He was a much liked and respected member of the club and lifted the magazine to new heights during his period as editor. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him and was saddened when he had to resign due to illness. He will be much missed.
